The 9 worst tech movies of all time

Friday, 12.18.2009, 11:25am
Sometimes terrible movies -- the ones with such bad acting, dumb dialogue and cheesy special effects that they're unintentionally hilarious -- are the ones we remember the most.

No genre is immune, but movies about technology -- ominous Web sites, evil hackers and so on -- seem to fail more often than not. Maybe that's because it's hard to dramatize someone sitting at a computer. Maybe it's because Hollywood doesn't understand tech.
Microsoft help desk less busy after Windows 7

Friday, 12.18.2009, 11:16am
There are many ways to measure how Windows 7 is doing. There are reports on new PC sales, tallies of boxed copy sales, and surveys of planned enterprise adoption, to name a few.

But one of the most encouraging signs for Microsoft is the lack of phone calls it is getting from people with problems. Overall, Microsoft said the volume of calls to its support lines is half of what it expected.
Prosecutor in immigrant's beating death suspected cover-up

Friday, 12.18.2009, 10:11am
The Pennsylvania prosecutor who failed to secure felony convictions against two teens in the beating death of a Mexican immigrant says he thought his case was "compromised" from the start.

Burn pits could cause long-term damage to troops

Friday, 12.18.2009, 09:20am
The military is backing off its previous position and acknowledging that some troops exposed to the burning of refuse on military bases could be susceptible to long-term health effects.

Since the issue first arose two years ago, Pentagon health officials have insisted that, based on its analysis, troops who were near burn pits at Joint Base Balad in Iraq -- the largest base in that country --
Who's winning the 'war' on Christmas?

Friday, 12.18.2009, 08:35am
Americans are in a war that pits the politically correct against Christmas carolers, some say. They say it's a battle that plays out in the halls of Congress, retail stores and public schools across the country, and it's one that's been raging for years.

Republican Rep. Henry Brown of South Carolina introduced a resolution this month asking that the House express support for the use of Christmas symbols and traditions and frown on any attempt to ban references to the holiday.
Leader of Mexican drug cartel killed

Friday, 12.18.2009, 07:27am
The rapid thud-thud-thud of military choppers overhead on Wednesday was the first thing to catch the attention of the residents of Cuernavaca, a city south of Mexico City known as a retreat for city-dwellers and tourists alike.

The helicopters landed near Punta Vista Hermosa, a majestic resort where condos sell for millions of Mexican pesos, and before long, seemingly hundreds of military personnel were on its grounds.
With bleak economic forecast, some states free prisoners early

Thursday, 12.17.2009, 11:54am
The thought of her convicted attacker getting out of prison early makes Gloria Warner feel sick.

He once threw her from a moving vehicle, she says. He also beat her until welts and bruises covered her body. He raped her, too, and she says she's been in counseling since.

An American father said he hopes to be bringing his 9-year-old son home from Brazil on Thursday after a long international custody battle that has involved U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and many Brazilian courtrooms.

A Brazilian court on Wednesday ordered that the boy, Sean Goldman, be returned to the custody of his father in the United States. The father, David Goldman, spoke to CNN's "American Morning" on Thursday shortly after his plane touched down in Brazil.

"I recently purchase some Lodge Logic Cast Iron Skillets and I recently read an article while searching for information about cast iron skillets which said "anyone who has cooked with Iron Skillets knows at least once how it feels when you grab the handle of your HOT Skillet. OUCH!."

These Leather Mitts fit Lodge Logic 10" and 12" handles. I am not sure if these Mitts will fit other handles such as Griswold, Wagner, Bayou or Cabela's Outfitter Series since I do not own anything except Lodge Cast Iron Skillets.
