Local Home Based Business adds Leather Handle Mitts
"I recently purchase some Lodge Logic Cast Iron Skillets and I recently read an article while searching for information about cast iron skillets which said "anyone who has cooked with Iron Skillets knows at least once how it feels when you grab the handle of your HOT Skillet. OUCH!."

That got me thinking... you see I work with leather so I decided to NOT be one of those who grab a HOT handle and get badly burnt so I got out my Leather and came up with my own version of a Cast Iron Handle Mitt and so far I have NOT burnt myself since I have my Leather Mitt on the counter next to the stove when I am cooking and so far I have not grabbed the HOT handle.

Many of my family and friends use Cast Iron Cookware and wanted me to make them some Leather Mitts which I have done and they all love them and use them everyday. And I was told I should bring them to the public and start selling them so that's just what I did and its been a big success.

The Mitt fits snugly but slides on and off easily and covers the entire handle.

Cleaning Your Cast Iron Skillet: When you are finished cooking you need to clean your skillet. Just slide on your Leather Mitt and take it to your sink and run very HOT water into your skillet to remove excess grease or food scraps. Use some table salt and paper towel to clean your skillet. NEVER run cold water in your skillet as it could cause the skillet to break or warp. If some food stuck to your skillet put some water in the skillet and bring to a boil for a couple minutes and lightly scrub your skillet with a stiff nylon bristly brush (Never use a metal brush as it will remove the vital seasoning surface) then rinse with HOT water. Put back on the stove to completely dry your skillet then melt some lard in the skillet and use a paper towel to completely cover the inside and outside of your skillet. Wipe off excess with paper towel and store your skillet in the over WITHOUT a lid.

NOTICE: These Leather Mitts fit Lodge Logic 10" and 12" handles. I am not sure if these Mitts will fit other handles such as Griswold, Wagner, Bayou or Cabela's Outfitter Series since I do not own anything except Lodge Cast Iron Skillets.
