Best dressed celebrities at the Emmys

Hollywood celebrated television's best and brightest at the 61st Emmy
Awards on Sunday night. Who dazzled most on the red carpet? In Style
rates the fashions.
While many actresses played it safe in classic cuts and neutral colors,
there were a few standouts, mostly young stars who brought excitement
to an otherwise ordinary red carpet.

Mad Men & 30 Rock top Emmy Awards

After starting with 16 nominations, "Mad Men" won just three Emmy
Awards at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night -- but one of
them was the big one, best drama series.
The AMC show
about ad agency executives in early 1960s Manhattan often competed
against itself, particularly in the category of episode writing, where
it had four of the five possible nominations.

Award-winning "Juno" scribe proves as much in her second screenplay, a
horror comedy starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried.

Guiding Light demise continues soaps decline

With reality shows, who needs soap operas? Certainly not most of
America. In the past decade, the audience for soap operas has dwindled,
as has the number of what broadcasters call "daytime dramas." The
latest soap victim, CBS' "Guiding Light," will go quietly out Friday
after 72 years on the air.
"Guiding Light," a mainstay of CBS' daytime schedule for decades, airs its final episode Friday.

awards circuit, she looked great doing it, earning the title of "best
red carpet" on People magazine's 10 Best Dressed List.

Patrick Swayze dies after cancer fight

Patrick Swayze, whose hunky good looks and sympathetic performances in
such films as "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" made him a romantic idol to
millions, died Monday. He was 57. Patrick Swayze's doctor said in March 2008 that Swayze was suffering from pancreatic cancer. Swayze died of pancreatic cancer, his publicist, Annett Wolf, told CNN.

Kanye West grabs Swifts mic at MTV awards

Kanye West's hijacking of country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift's speech
was particularly brutal. A giddy Swift was in the midst of her
acceptance speech for best female video when West rushed onstage,
grabbed her microphone and let loose an outburst on behalf of Beyonce
Knowles.

Jay Leno ready for prime time

Jay Leno's new show will be freshly baked five nights a week with
three times the comedy of his former "Tonight Show," the comedian
promised. "The Jay Leno Show," is premiering at 10 p.m. Monday on NBC.
