Teen offenders find a future in Missouri

Getting arrested for stealing cars after his 16th birthday may be the best thing that ever happened to Terrence Barkley. It got him out of gangs and headed to college.
While in one of Missouri's juvenile facilities, Barkley became editor
of its student newspaper, captain of the football team and made the
honor roll.

Person of interest sought in slain models case

Canadian authorities are searching for a woman in their
investigation into the death of a reality TV contestant, who is
suspected of killing his wife in Southern California.
Authorities have "identified the woman who is now a person of interest
in this investigation, but she is not considered a risk to public
safety," Sgt. Duncan Pound, spokesman for the Royal Canadian Mounted
Police, said Monday.

Suspect in models murder found dead in Canada

Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a reality TV contestant suspected in his
wife's slaying, was found hanging from a coat rack in a motel room in
an apparent suicide, according to Canadian officials. Staff at a motel in Hope, British Columbia, found Jenkins dead, officials said.
"It was a man hanging by a belt from a coat rack," Kevin Walker, the
manager of the budget Thunderbird Motel, told CNN affiliate CTV on
Sunday.

Scottish official has rewarded a terrorist

FBI Director Robert Mueller harshly criticized the decision to
release the Lockerbie bomber in a letter released Saturday, calling it
"a mockery of the rule of law.
Mueller, in a
note to Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill, said MacAskill's
decision to release Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi is "as
inexplicable as it is detrimental to the cause of justice."

California bill would free more than 27,000 inmates

A controversial bill that California legislators say would allow the
early release of more than 27,000 inmates from crowded prisons will be
taken up by the state Assembly on Monday.
The Senate on Thursday passed the corrections package 21-19, after
Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento, assured
senators the changes would protect the public from the most violent
offenders.

Reality TV star sought in swimsuit models death

A reality TV contestant is wanted for questioning in connection with
the death of his ex-wife, a former swimsuit model whose nude body was
found stuffed into a suitcase.
Jasmine Fiore was last seen alive at a
poker game with Ryan Alexander Jenkins, who has appeared on two VH1
reality TV shows.

Parents were told youre going to die

A nurse who works with special-needs children interviewed the boy, who
has autism and speech issues, regarding the deaths of Byrd and Melanie
Billings. The nurse told police that the child said "two bad men" were
wearing black masks when they knocked on the door. They woke Byrd
Billings and said, "You're going to die."

Judge on trial for refusing death row filing

The presiding judge of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals went on
trial Monday, facing misconduct allegations over her refusal to accept
a last-minute filing to delay an execution.
The State Judicial Commission has charged Judge Sharon Keller with
failing to follow the court's execution-day procedures in the case of
death-row inmate Michael Wayne Richard, and denying Richard access to
open courts and the right to be heard.

Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme was released from federal custody Friday, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Bureau of Prisons said.
She was released Friday morning from Federal Medical Center Carswell in
Fort Worth, Texas, said Felicia Ponce, a spokeswoman for the U.S.
Bureau of Prisons in Washington.

Slain cartel member feared for his life

A Mexican man who was allegedly killed on orders from his own cartel
believed they were hunting for him after he began working as an
informant and was fearful for his life, according to court documents.
Jose Daniel Gonzalez Galeana began to worry after he began working as
an informant for immigration officials in the United States.
